  • ABOUT THE PROJECT   :

The Mangueshi temple is most famous of all Goan temples. It is located at Priol in Ponda taluka, about 21 kilometres from the capital city of Panaji.
The brief was to upgrade the existing infrastructure, renovate the Mulkeshwar temple and construct a new Agarshala(Dormitory).

A new Agarshala was built with the 21st century devotee in mind, who needs modern facilities ( attached toilets and air conditioners) yet the architectural language had to bend with the traditional syntax. The Mulkeshwar temple design was opened up, literally, as devotees offer smoking beedis to the lord, for exhausting the fumes, and yet create a sense of calm. The whole complex got a facelift and a new lease of life. The three principles in the design were a sense of territorial order, a visible hierarchy of structures and a creation of calmness and reverence.
